Duties
Aid in the audit and investigation of banks, insurance companies, utilities, stockbrokers, collateral loan makers, or any other organization holding unclaimed property to ensure accurate and complete reporting and remittance of unclaimed property to the State Comptroller.
Minimum Qualifications
- For Auditor Trainee 1 Abandoned Property, a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
- For Auditor Trainee 2 Abandoned Property, a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND one year of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
- OR a master's or doctoral degree in accounting, business administration, business management, criminal justice, economics, engineering, finance, mathematics, public administration, public or community health, public policy, political science, or statistics including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
- For Auditor 1 Abandoned Property (SG-18), a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND two years of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
- OR a master's or doctoral degree in accounting, business administration, business management, criminal justice, economics, engineering, finance, mathematics, public administration, public or community health, public policy, political science, or statistics including or supplemented by 24 undergraduate or graduate credit hours in accounting and/or auditing AND one year of professional accounting and/or auditing experience.
Additional Comments
- Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Familiarity with accounting and auditing practices
- Experience using computers and software programs
- Ability to compile data and produce reports based upon findings
- Good understanding of professional protocols
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to travel daily within the metro-NYC area and overnight (weekly) up-state or out of state.
