Salary: $3,631.00–$5,434.00 monthly ($43,572.00–$65,208.00 annually)

About the role

Under immediate supervision, employees in this entry-level professional auditing position perform routine auditing tasks and related work. This role is part of a flexible staffing structure and will be reclassified to the next level after successful completion of a mandatory one-year training period. Supervision starts close but becomes more general as the incumbent gains experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, or
  • A Public Accountant in good standing, or
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, including thirty-six quarter hours in accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to collect, analyze, interpret, and document fiscal and operating data.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing professional financial statements and reports.
  • Review records of accounts receivable, accounts payable, expenditures, and income.
  • Verify expenditures comply with contractual requirements and authorized procedures.
  • Audit financial records and documents to ensure accuracy and conformance with accepted accounting principles.
  • Audit state agencies, institutions, departments, schools, or private agencies receiving federal funding to ensure statutory compliance.
  • Assist in studies of cost accounting, general accounting systems, and related matters; report on conditions and recommend improvements.
