Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in Tax, Tax Preparation, and Tax Planning.
- Understanding of Tax Law, including federal, state, and local regulations; experience with excise or fuel tax is a plus.
- Finance skills, including financial analysis, reconciliations, and interpreting financial statements for tax purposes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, EA) is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with tax and accounting software, advanced Excel skills, and comfort working with large data sets.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or the energy/fuel industry is highly beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, with a strong focus on fuel-related and excise tax compliance.
- Research tax laws and regulations, monitor changes impacting the petroleum industry, and ensure timely filing and payment of all required tax obligations.
- Assist with tax planning initiatives, analyze financial data for tax implications, and support audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Maintain accurate tax records, collaborate with accounting and finance teams, and recommend process improvements to enhance compliance and efficiency.
