About the role

The Senior Accountant will manage various audit and attestation assignments under the guidance of Supervisors or Managers. This role emphasizes independence, problem-solving, and client relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Complete audit and/or attestation projects for designated clients as directed with minimal oversight.
  • Accept increasing responsibility for engagement management.
  • Recognize and address potential problem areas during engagements.
  • Conduct business-specific research, gather and analyze data, interpret results, and compile reports.
  • Develop, strengthen, and maintain effective client relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and a service-oriented approach.
  • Increase the team's profitability by managing time and staff efficiently, contributing ideas, and adding value.
  • Supervise and mentor Staff Accountants.
  • Work towards obtaining a CPA license if not already obtained.
  • Perform work accurately and efficiently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Accept constructive feedback from management and make adjustments as directed.
  • Work collaboratively and foster a productive, team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain strong computer skills, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and report writing tools.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with co-workers and clients.
  • Meet internal Firm deadlines for tasks such as time entry, billing, etc.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends based on position needs, and travel domestically if required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance (advanced degree is a plus).
  • 2-3 years of experience in public accounting, or a balance of education and work experience.
  • Ability to sit for the CPA exam or passed sections of the CPA exam is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and auditing rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a level of intellectual curiosity.
  • Perform work accurately and in a time-efficient manner, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback from management and make adjustments as directed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster a productive, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including solid skill in the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) and report writing tools.

  • Experience with any of the following is helpful but not mandatory: Affordable Housing, Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), Opportunity Zones (OZ), Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETC), Historical Tax Credits (HTC), Housing and Urban Development (HUD), New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC), Real Estate, Developers, Partnerships, Housing Authority (HA), Public Housing Authority, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI), Community Development Entity Certification Applications (CDE), Property Compliance, Nonprofit, Single Audit, Uniform Guidance, A-133, Forecasting, Cost Segregation, Year 15 Exit, Tax-exempt bond and HOME programs.
