Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex private equity fund audits including multi-tier structures, SPVs, co-investment vehicles, and management companies.
- Provide technical leadership in investment company accounting, fair value measurements, and fund economics.
- Oversee audit engagements from planning through completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and regulatory compliance.
- Advise clients on valuation methodologies, fund structures, and accounting implications of investment transactions.
Technical Expertise & Quality Oversight
- Maintain deep knowledge of GAAP, investment company accounting, and alternative asset fund reporting.
- Provide guidance on: Fair value measurements (ASC 820), capital account mechanics including waterfall allocations and carried interest, management fee and expense structures.
- Support the development of internal technical expertise and mentor team members on complex valuation and audit topics.
Practice Growth & Business Development
- Lead strategic initiatives to grow the private equity audit practice.
- Transition and manage an existing book of business while cultivating new client relationships.
- Develop relationships with fund managers, institutional investors, fund administrators, legal counsel, and valuation specialists.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to cross-sell services across tax and advisory practices.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to General Partners, CFOs, and fund leadership teams.
- Provide proactive insight into accounting developments, fund operations, and industry trends.
- Strengthen the firm’s position as a trusted partner across the entire fund lifecycle.
Team Leadership & Development
- Experience recruiting, developing, and mentoring a dedicated private equity fund audit team.
- Foster a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture focused on excellence and innovation.
- Support career development pathways for audit professionals interested in alternative investments.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10–20+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on private equity or alternative investment funds.
- CPA License required.
- Significant experience leading complex private equity fund audits.
- Demonstrated experience managing senior client relationships and engagement teams.
- Deep technical expertise in private equity fund audits and alternative investment structures.
- Strong understanding of fair value frameworks, valuation methodologies, and investment accounting.
- Proven leadership capabilities with the ability to build and scale a practice area.
- Excellent client relationship management and advisory skills.
- Strong business development and networking abilities.
- Able to operate effectively in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial firm environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex accounting concepts into clear business insights.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner across service lines.
- Experience building or expanding a private equity or alternative investments practice.
- Experience transitioning or managing a portable book of business.
- Prior leadership experience at the Partner or Managing Director level.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary ranging from $300,000 to $500,000 annually.
