AUDIT INTEGRITY - AUDIT SPECIALIST

About the Role

The Audit Specialist will process external audits, including specialized or focused audits and projects. They will track and report internal audit schedules and results, analyzing and reporting data for both quality measures and payment. The role involves working directly with the Medical Auditor and Management team to ensure audits comply with Federal and State regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs reviews of medical records, summarizes findings, and accurately enters information into databases.
• Solves problems related to unique record or process issues.
• Tracks and validates data accuracy and timeliness in accordance with established guidelines.
• Compiles data into reports to analyze trends and patterns, assisting in identifying improvement activities.
• Reports information to appropriate departments, committees, or individuals in relation to established goals.
• Assists departments in complying with payment guidelines and quality measures.
• Helps train clinicians and other staff on protocols.
• Participates in presentations to educate staff on outcomes and new or changing protocols.
• Collaborates with the clinical team to use outcome data in education.
• Actively participates in problem identification and resolution, coordinating between appropriate parties.
• Accurately interprets and follows frequently changing data definitions and guidelines.
• Takes ownership of projects, researches data, and follows through with detailed action plans to completion.
• Maintains positive working relationships with internal and external colleagues.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPC certification preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, regulatory guidelines, and revenue cycle.
• 1-3 years of medical experience.
• Proficient computer skills, including navigation of electronic databases and knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, and meet established goals and deadlines.
• Basic understanding of math and concepts to calculate percent of accuracy and deficiencies.
• Ability to concentrate for long periods and maintain a better-than-average attention span.
• Strong interpersonal skills, contributing to effective and positive working relationships.
• Demonstrates cooperation, flexibility, reliability, and dependability in daily work activities.
• Willingness to collaborate with others for the good of the organization.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple, competing deadlines.
• Commitment to high standards and professionalism.
