Audit Associate - Government
About the role
The Weaver Public Sector practice is seeking to add new team members at the Associate level. This role involves performing audit procedures, assisting with financial statement audits, developing work paper techniques, and preparing financial statements. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, be a CPA candidate, have 1-2 years of public accounting or industry experience, and possess basic familiarity with GAAP and GAAS.
Responsibilities
- Perform audit procedures as assigned on engagements
- Help complete an audit engagement
- Work closely with Senior Associates and Managers to identify and resolve issues
- Develop effective and clear work paper techniques
- Assist with financial statement preparation
- Develop a plan of professional development with their group leader
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA candidate
- 1-2+ years of public accounting or industry experience, or a combination of both
- Basic familiarity with GAAP and GAAS
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA
