AUDIOLOGIST, STAFF (MA)

About the Role

Provide comprehensive audiologic diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to clients in a variety of clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic and/or Treatment Services
  • Provide services with 5% or less supervision.
  • Independently provide services in clinical areas and one “Other” clinical area: Vestibular Function, Pediatric Testing, Adult Testing, Hearing Aid Dispensing, ABR, Aural habilitation/rehabilitation (includes treatment services), Auditory Processing, FM systems.
  • Consistently select, utilize, and accurately interpret appropriate testing materials and/or instrumentation based on presenting needs and department protocols.
  • Seek input/feedback/questions from patients/caregivers consistently, using a variety of strategies/techniques to ensure successful communication.
• Documentation
  • Clinical Documentation
    • Consistently include thorough discussion of reason for referral, problem/goals, interpretation of results, progress, and recommendations/plans following department protocols.
    • Make appropriate clinical recommendations and referrals, following department procedures for completing such referrals.
    • Hearing Works documentation must include reason for visit, assessment of problem/concern, and plan of action.
    • Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, thorough, and complete at least 85% of the time according to department standards.
  • Departmental Documentation
    • Ensure departmental documentation (e.g., HW hours, clinical and HW charge/day sheets, school billing, PE submission, therapy attendance) is accurate, timely, and complete at least 95% of the time.
    • Ensure Hearing Works documentation and pricing for services are thorough and accurate according to department standards and guidelines.
• Communication
  • Consistently counsel patients/caregivers regarding findings, recommendations, and/or carry-over of therapeutic goals in a clear, concise manner.
  • Share new applications of clinical knowledge/skills with fellow staff at least once per year via direct training, group presentations, and/or case reviews.
• Efficiency/Productivity
  • Proactively monitor clinical schedule and notify coordinator at least two business days in advance of known openings (openings of more than one hour per business day).
  • Always prioritize and maximize direct, billable patient care.
  • Consistently perform instrument/equipment problem-solving/troubleshooting.
• Teamwork
  • Demonstrate ability to identify and address challenges, issues, or problems, seeking support when needed to ensure a positive outcome or resolution.
  • Participate in at least 1 outreach activity per year (e.g., educational programs, cultivating referral sources, development of new programs).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year.
• Education: AuD or Master’s Degree in Audiology.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • NYS License in Audiology.
  • NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing Certification or eligible.
  • ASHA-CCC or American Academy of Audiology membership.
• Other:
  • If applicable, may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials; must exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and follow infection control policies.
  • Must have own transportation to move between sites and/or provide home-based patient care.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
