Audiologist - Intermittent

About the role

This position is in Primary Care Service of the Martinsburg VAMC - with duties at the Fort Detrick Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Frederick - MD. The staff audiologist conducts full-range audiologic evaluations to determine type and degree of hearing loss - assesses need for amplification - predicts and measures amplification effectiveness - and provides rehabilitation and counseling for veterans with hearing loss.

Responsibilities

• Uses a wide-rang of knowledge and skill in applying evidenced-based principles and methodologies of the practice of Audiology across the spectrum of adult patients
• Develops coherent treatment strategies
• Demonstrates knowledge of clinical Audiology services
• Performs clinical Audiology services independently
• Conducts assessments - provides treatment interventions
• Provides consultation to other health care professionals
• Completes documentation in an accurate and timely manner
• Demonstrates ability to perform functions associated with contemporary Audiology practice
• Participates in orientation / training of medical staff - students - and residents
• Affords assistance in orientation and training of new staff
• Affords assistance in the training and supervision of students - trainees - externs and fellows providing feedback on progress toward established educational goals
• Maintains knowledge and skill of contemporary Audiology practice through continuing education programs - journals - textbooks and in-service programs
• Provides patient and family education
• Participates in performance improvement
