Audiologist – Comprehensive Audiology Externship (2027 – 2028)
About the role
The Carle Health Audiology and Hearing Services team is excited to offer a Comprehensive Audiology Externship Program for the 2027-28 academic year for current AuD students that are interested in gaining additional clinical experience with a robust Audiology and ENT practice in Illinois.
Opportunity Details
- A full-time, paid externship with a $35,000 stipend.
- Experience a busy, full-scope Audiology practice providing care for patients within Central Illinois.
- Gain valuable experience treating a diverse patient population with various needs.
- Work under the direct supervision of IL-licensed, ASHA-certified Audiologists for three academic semesters.
- Obtain clinical experience in branch locations in Danville and Mattoon.
- Work closely with the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery team and clinical observation opportunities are available.
- Work in a department with 6 Audiologists, 6 state-of-the-art sound suites, and dedicated hearing aid, cochlear implant, and BAHS fitting suites.
- Rotating through the clinic annually, AuD students will gain valuable clinical experience/skills to be able to confidently work independently post-graduation in a clinical setting with patients of all ages.
Application Requirements
- Current AuD students in good academic standing who have completed 3 years of education at an Accredited Audiology Doctoral program.
- Successfully completed practicum classes that encompass audiologic diagnosis and treatment with patients of all ages.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position is a $35,000 stipend. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
