About the role
The Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department is seeking an Audio-Visual Specialist (Audio-Visual Specialist 3H) in the Community Relations and Public Information Division.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and evaluates the media requirements of a department and provides audio visual, photographic, multi-image and related services to County departments and agencies.
- Functions as a technical expert in the audio visual field and leads lower-level specialists on work assignments.
- Develops media production proposals and budget details, including program goals and objectives, title, content, projected audience, length and format, and establishes costs.
- Selects appropriate methods for converting original visual materials into satisfactory color.
- Establishes and maintains procedures for storage, inventory, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and materials, photographs, film, and video libraries.
- Trains personnel in the proper use/care of audio visual, photographic, and other equipment and materials.
- May lead audio visual specialists in the accomplishment of inter/intra department/agency programs/projects.
- Participates in establishing, reviewing, monitoring, and implementing departmental policy, guidelines, and procedures affecting the audio-visual program.
- Prepares various reports indicating the status of the audio-visual program/projects/activities.
- Determines rental equipment/services needed for program/project development and ensures related bills are properly processed.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Associate of Arts degree or vocational training in communications, broadcast journalism, photography, graphic design, audio visual fields; Two (2) years of experience as it relates to the relevant duties as announced; An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Skills
- Extensive degree of independent judgment and action within the framework of established departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
- Knowledge of departmental authorities and limitations.
- Ability to develop multi-image slide productions, video, produce coherent scripts, produce audio portions of presentations, choose music and voice over, create special film effects, establish and maintain procedures for storage, inventory, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment and materials, photographs, film, and video libraries, train personnel in the proper use/care of audio visual, photographic, and other equipment and materials, use automated equipment in conjunction with assigned duties and responsibilities.
