Responsibilities
- Be a point person for show teams and mix daily/weekly shows as directed
- Lead show-specific workflow and project management in collaboration with Engineering leadership
- Contribute to the development of changing formats and workflows, particularly video podcasting
- Organize audio and video media ingest across platforms and stakeholders
- Act as first line of defense in troubleshooting studio and Pro Tools workflow issues
- Help train and assist staff in all aspects of production
- General technical support including audio restoration, file management, host/guest recording setup, and SOP documentation
- Help develop and deploy Pro Tools templates, SOPs, and other team-wide tools
- Collaborate with Sound Designer/Composers as directed
- Occasional evening and weekend technical support
Requirements
- Demonstrate the ability to clearly discuss audio engineering techniques, and steer technical conversations with producers and editors
- Develop strong working relationships with producers and editors in a creative environment
- Provide tapings support as needed
- Contribute adaptive and creative original music composition across NYT projects
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an audio engineer (or equivalent position) required – podcast or broadcast environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of Pro Tools, iZotope RX, and other creative plugins
- Comfortable with concept of Loudness and mixing to different specs
- Familiarity with mixing for video, specifically .aaf formats, Premiere Pro audio suite, etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of media asset management systems and file organization
