Attorney- Workers' Compensation
About the role
This role sits inside our Kansas City office. You'll handle all aspects of representing clients in their workers' compensation matters — from the moment a case opens through each resolution — while providing direction and supervision to non-attorney staff to ensure full compliance with workers' compensation laws, regulations, and labor codes.
Responsibilities
- Proactively communicate with clients to provide updates and claim status throughout their matter
- Interact and negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of clients
- Draft case materials, correspondence, pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
- Ensure accuracy of all documents prepared by you and your team
- Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings
- Provide direction and supervision to non-attorney staff in compliance with all workers' compensation laws and regulations
Requirements
- Active Missouri Bar license — required
- At least one year of workers' compensation experience preferred; strong candidates with relevant litigation background considered
- Eligibility to obtain Kansas Bar license (UBE score or reciprocity)
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Committed to providing responsive and compassionate client service
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs — Excel, Word, SharePoint
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
