About the role
The Unhoused Peoples Justice Project is seeking an attorney to join our team. This position will work alongside community organizations, unhoused residents, and tenants to fight against the criminalization of homelessness and poverty.Responsibilities
- Develop and advance movement-driven solutions to advance the goal of housing justice and the end of criminalization.
- Bring systemic litigation in state and federal court to secure the civil rights of unhoused people.
- Support policy advocacy solutions that are driven by the needs of unhoused communities.
- Provide direct representation to unhoused residents in Los Angeles.
Requirements
- Admitted to practice in California.
- Experience in civil rights litigation.
- Strong commitment to social justice and the rights of the most vulnerable members of society.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- At least 3 years of relevant legal experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Skills
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Effective negotiation and mediation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
