About the Role

We are seeking experienced Defense Attorneys to support a busy General Litigation Trial Team. This role will focus on pre-trial litigation support across general litigation, tort, liability, commercial litigation, and mass tort matters. This is a back-office litigation role; court appearances and deposition coverage are not expected.

Location: New York, NY (remote with occasional onsite meetings). Job Type: Contract (1+ year), Start Date: ASAP.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, including motions for summary judgment, and other litigation documents.
• Review case files and medical records for completeness and relevant issues.
• Assist with case evaluations and requests for litigation authority.
• Summarize depositions, medical records, and other case materials.
• Research verdicts, legal issues, and applicable case law.
• Prepare legal memoranda and other attorney work product.
• Identify potential litigation risks and legal issues early.
• Collaborate with attorneys on litigation and trial strategy.
• Support litigation matters involving tort and liability claims.
• Ensure compliance with carrier reporting requirements.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of legal experience.
• Experience with an insurance defense firm and/or carrier legal department.
• Strong defense-side litigation background.
• Experience drafting litigation motions, including summary judgment motions.
• Experience reviewing medical records and evaluating litigation matters.
• Understanding of insurance carrier reporting requirements.
• Ability to identify litigation risks, legal issues, and potential case exposure.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Defense-side litigation experience.
• Experience handling tort and liability litigation.
• Experience with insurance defense, general liability, or related litigation matters.
• Background working in a carrier staff-counsel environment.

Pay

$110-$115 per hour.

Schedule

Flexible, 35-40 hours per week.
