Attorney Supervisor
Job Description and Duties
The Attorney Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of a group of attorneys within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section. The Attorney Supervisor may personally perform the most difficult and complex legal work within the Circular Economy and Regulations Development Section. Some of these duties will require in-person presence.
Beginning July 1, 2026, CalRecycle staff will be office-centered, requiring employees to report to the office at least four days per week. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program needs. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the positions designated headquarters location, as reflected on the duty statement and at their own expense.
Working Conditions
The incumbent works in a high-rise office building in an enclosed, non-windowed office cubicle in a smoke-free environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. Mandatory overtime, including evening and weekend work, may be necessary during the year end closing process or when the department is mission tasked. Travel may be required locally and within the state.

Statement of Qualifications
Experience as an attorney managing or supervising legal staff or acting in a lead capacity.
Experience providing oral and written legal advice in a government setting, including such experience with respect to contracting, administrative enforcement, administrative litigation, public record requests, regulatory program development and implementation, personnel matters, and labor relations.
Experience advising, particularly in a government setting, executives and subject matter experts on the creation and development of regulatory programs or enforcement programs.
Experience cultivating and maintaining professional relationships within and without your organization, such as with clients, staff within an organizational client, government partners, regulated entities, and other stakeholders.
