About the role

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Legal Division Enforcement Branch is recruiting to fill one permanent full time Attorney Supervisor position in the Information Governance Bureau. The office location for this position is Sacramento, Oakland, Riverside, or Monterey Park. This position allows for a Hybrid work environment with telework at an alternative work location. An alternative work location would be the employee's residence. For travel purposes, reimbursement would be based on the office location.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the workload of a group of Attorneys and Paralegals and may act in a lead capacity.
  • Supervise subordinate staff who provide legal support and advice to Department management and staff on the more complex and sensitive matters that arise within the functional responsibility of the Information Governance Bureau, including arrest-only triage; legislative review and analysis; training and forms review and analysis; public records act and subpoena responses; audits and data management.
  • Personally perform the most difficult and complex legal research and provide legal support and advice to Department management and staff on issues and projects that have policy and political impact on the Department.
  • Travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Current members of the California State Bar who are currently employed in a California civil service position at the Supervising Attorney level, who have current list eligibility for appointment to the Supervising Attorney level, who have SROA/Surplus eligibility, or who have reinstatement rights to this level.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
  • Position requires a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • Position is subject to fingerprinting clearance by the Department of Justice.
  • Position is designated under the Conflict-of-Interest Code.
  • Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.

Qualifications

  • Expert in the laws, rules, and regulations relating to CCLD programs administered by the Department.

Pay

$12,590.00 - $16,900.00 monthly. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.
