Analytical Skills
- Analyze complex issues to determine possible exposure to damages and devise strategies for the successful resolution of disputes.
- Make decisions and provide advice about claims against the Company’s insureds and/or the Company.
- Focus on the propriety of Company positions.
Claim File Management
- Ensure the Company meets all obligations and responsibilities to insureds, third parties, regulatory authorities and the courts.
- Review outside counsel activities to ensure the Company and its insureds receive competent representation, services that are necessary and at a reasonable cost.
Corporate Matters
- Provide advice and counsel with regard to other general corporate matters.
Industry Knowledge
- Stay current with changes to legislation, case law, rules, and regulations that directly affect the Company and the insurance industry.
- Advise impacted branches/divisions of changes that may impact them.
The position requires a J.D. degree and 3+ years of relevant experience. The role offers a merit-based work-from-home program after initial in-person training, with the potential to work from home up to 3 days per week. The position is not litigious and is located in Lansing, MI. The ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.
