Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret California homeowners insurance policies.
- Research and apply California insurance law to complex coverage issues.
- Evaluate first-party property insurance claims and related coverage questions.
- Draft detailed, well-supported insurance coverage opinions and recommendation letters.
- Identify and communicate legal risks, policy interpretations, and potential coverage outcomes.
- Collaborate with supervising attorneys on novel or complex insurance coverage matters.
- Manage deadlines and maintain responsiveness in a fast-paced client environment.
- Produce high-quality written work with minimal supervision and limited revision needs.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California preferred.
- Experience preparing insurance coverage opinions under California law.
- Strong background interpreting homeowners insurance policies and analyzing coverage disputes.
- Experience handling first-party property insurance claims and related coverage issues.
- Prior experience serving as coverage counsel is highly preferred.
- Excellent legal research, legal writing, and analytical skills.
- Able to work independently, exercise sound professional judgment, and manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with attorneys and clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and legal research platforms such as Westlaw or Lexis; experience with Clio is a plus.
