About the role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Law Attorney to join our team. In this role, you will manage a variety of family law matters, including divorce proceedings, custody disputes, and other related legal issues. You’ll be responsible for preparing legal documents, conducting depositions, and advocating for clients in court. A strong ability to connect with clients, provide strategic legal counsel, and negotiate favorable outcomes is essential.
- Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, custody, and support matters.
- Draft, file, and manage legal motions and pleadings.
- Conduct depositions and discovery.
- Advocate for clients in court hearings and trials.
- Provide clear, empathetic legal guidance and develop case strategies.
- Negotiate settlements and manage contested and complex cases.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of focused experience in Family Law.
- Licensed to practice in Massachusetts.
- Proven ability to manage divorce and family law cases from start to finish.
- Strong drafting skills for motions and legal documents.
- Skilled in conducting depositions and courtroom advocacy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Experience with complex or high-conflict cases is a plus.
- Prior work in a boutique law firm environment is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee local and state permitting processes from application through final approval, including preparing submissions, attending public hearings, and advocating on behalf of clients before regulatory bodies.
- Represent clients before Zoning Boards, Planning Boards, and other municipal and governmental agencies regarding land use, development, and regulatory matters.
- Prepare, submit, and manage applications for permits, licenses, variances, special permits, site plan approvals, and other governmental authorizations.
- Research and analyze zoning ordinances, land use regulations, municipal bylaws, and applicable state laws to provide legal guidance and strategic recommendations.
- Draft legal opinions, memoranda, and correspondence regarding zoning, planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance issues.
- Coordinate with attorneys, municipal officials, consultants, engineers, architects, and internal staff to facilitate project approvals and client objectives.
- Respond promptly and effectively to client inquiries and time-sensitive matters while maintaining a high level of client service.
- Monitor project progress and regulatory developments, proactively identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.
- Prepare and prosecute administrative appeals and other proceedings related to permitting, licensing, and land use decisions.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and provide timely updates regarding the status of applications, hearings, approvals, and related matters.
