About the role
Performs advanced legal work in the area assigned, involving litigation and legal research; drafting legal documents; and interpreting laws, rules, and regulations. Works under general direction with authority to make tactical and legal decisions in connection with assigned cases.
Responsibilities
- Represents the state in pre-trial and evidentiary hearings and jury/court trials
- Ensures effective communications with defense attorneys, court personnel, victims and family members, witnesses, and other interested parties
- Handles Public Information Act (PIA) requests for Dallas County, including PIA requests to the County Clerk and the Tax Assessor, and PIAs for District Attorney criminal record files
- Prepares legal briefs to the Texas Attorney General’s Office
Requirements
- Experience prosecuting the more complex general or special-category felony cases in assigned court
- Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations relevant to the assigned area
- Ability to draft legal documents and conduct legal research
- Effective communication skills, particularly with defense attorneys, court personnel, and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Admitted to practice law in Texas
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-approved law school
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in legal research and document drafting
