Attorney - Insurance Defense

Location: North Jersey, NJ | Office: Jersey City, NJ Job Type: Full-Time | Flexible Hybrid Salary: $125,000 - $165,000 USD Practice Area: Insurance Defense | Casualty Litigation | Automobile Liability | Civil Litigation POSITION OVERVIEW Client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its North Jersey team. This role is designed for an attorney with 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing a caseload while working closely with experienced litigators and firm leadership. Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution - Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, reports, and other litigation documents - Conduct and defend depositions, handle motion practice and court appearances - Participate in arbitrations and mediations, prepare matters for trial - Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law - Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients - Conduct legal research, draft persuasive motions/briefs/memoranda EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active New Jersey law license3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience Experience independently managing litigation matters Experience handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practiceStrong legal research/writing and oral advocacy skills. Strong Plus: New Jersey automobile liability defense experienceExperience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entitiesArbitration/mediation/trial/courtroom experiencePremises liability experienceExisting relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals. WORK ENVIRONMENT Flexible hybrid - new attorneys generally expected 2-3 days/week in the Jersey City office initially, loosely enforced.
