Duties
- Advises public health programs within CDPH on complex legal issues involving public health laws, matters of Departmental and programmatic authority, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Develops and drafts legislative language, regulations, and transactional documents.
- Advise the Department, and potentially the California Health and Human Services Agency and the Governor’s Office, on Public Health-related legal matters pertaining to assigned Centers, Divisions, Offices, and/or programs.
- Supports and represents the Department’s programs on a variety of matters.
Qualifications
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
- Member in good standing of the California Bar Association.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in public health law.
- Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, and procedures related to public health.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
Benefits
The position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which will result in a monthly base pay reduction of 4.62% in exchange for 8 hours of leave credits through October 2026. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
