About the role

The firm seeks a Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney with 2-4+ years of experience to join their national community development practice in a hybrid capacity in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Structure and close affordable housing and community development transactions at the national level
  • Advise clients on the application of New Markets Tax Credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, and related federal and state programs
  • Draft and negotiate transaction documents across a range of financing structures including real estate finance and HUD-assisted housing
  • Represent a diverse client base including developers, investors, lenders, tax-exempt organizations, CDEs, and QALICBs
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on multilayered deals from inception through closing
  • Stay current on developments in affordable housing law, tax credit policy, and community development finance

Qualifications

  • 2-4+ years of experience in affordable housing finance, community development, or related transactional practice
  • Active bar admission in good standing
  • Experience with federal and state tax credit programs, including New Markets Tax Credits and historic rehabilitation tax credits
  • Familiarity with HUD-assisted housing programs and real estate finance structures
  • Background working with tax-exempt organizations, CDEs, QALICBs, or similar mission-driven entities
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-party transactions

  • Strong legal research and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
