ATTENDING PHYSICIAN 9 - NEUROLOGY

About the role

The Attending Physician IX in Neurology is a licensed physician with a successful residency in Neurology and board certification or eligibility. This role involves providing comprehensive neurologic care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Admit, work-up, diagnose, and manage patients with neurologic disease in the hospital setting.
• Provide neurologic consultation for other providers in the hospital and outpatient clinics.
• Take call and be available for neurologic care, adhering to high standards of care.
• Maintain current knowledge of neurology and participate in educational and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage patient care with compassion and respect, maintaining licensure and certifications.
• Communicate with patients, students, and colleagues, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with safety protocols.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine (D.O.), or equivalent from an accredited foreign medical school.
• Successful completion of a Neurology residency accredited by the American College of Graduate Medical Education.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Neurology.
• Current and active Illinois physician licensure.
• Controlled substance licensure by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
• Knowledge of neurology, sound judgement, and ability to work collaboratively with others.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and teaching skills.
• Ability to manage a medical service and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Physical abilities to lift up to 45 pounds, walk, stand, and use hands and fingers.
