PHYSICIAN - NEUROLOGY

About the role

The Physician-Neurologist at Independence Health Physician Practices provides comprehensive outpatient care to patients in Westmoreland County. They collaborate with various healthcare professionals to manage patient care and ensure continuity of care.

Responsibilities

• Examines, diagnoses, and treats outpatient patients
• Orders treatments, tests, medications, and consults with other specialists as needed
• Communicates with patients' primary care physicians to maintain continuity of care
• Prescribes medications or treatment regimens as appropriate
• Orders or interprets the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography
• Diagnoses, treats, or provides continuous care to patients
• Works in a modern environment using technology like audio-dictation, EMR, and digital radiology
• Assists with interviewing and selecting candidates for the Neurology department
• Attends medical group conferences and meetings
• Communicates with patients' families and social services as necessary
• Manages on-call responsibilities for the Neurology Department during holidays, evenings, and weekends

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Four to seven years of internship and residency training in neurological specialties
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to communicate complex topics to a diverse audience

Qualifications

• Current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania
• Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• DEA License
• Act 33 and Act 34 clearances
• Act 73 FBI clearance
