ATSU - Campus Security/Safety Officer (Full Time) - CA

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist the 24-hour Campus Security/Safety team, including first, second, and third shifts, as well as weekend shifts upon request.
• Provide customer service to Students, Faculty, and Staff within the Campus Safety Office or satellite location.
• Aid in the creation of new ID Badges and updating electronic access within the access control platform.
• Manage lost and found property, including inventorying and disposal.
• Lock and unlock selected doors on a daily basis according to departmental procedures.
• Afford assistance in the Patrol of the premises on a non-scheduled basis.
• Conduct checks for fire and safety hazards on a daily basis and report any hazards found to the Security Supervisor immediately.
• Investigate matters pertaining to alleged losses, thefts, and wrongful acts of individuals affecting security, and complete an incident report accurately as needed.
• Intercept and question strangers as needed.
• Respond within a timely manner to emergency calls as needed.
• Maintain the Reports Management System (RMS) and distribute safety and security-related incident reports.
• Maintain registration files of employee and student vehicles as needed.
• Ensure parking regulations are in compliance with policies on an ongoing basis.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous security or related experience is preferred.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Work independently with limited supervision.
• Interact effectively with various segments of the public, including, but not limited to, faculty, employees, students, patients, and visitors.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Follow written and oral instructions.
• Use telephone number or other means for immediate contact.
• Use of the two-way radio.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Able to be creative and take individual initiative and responsibility.
• Knowledge and understanding of dispatching procedures are highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail, able to multitask, and understand the importance of timely follow-through.
• Experience working with different Software platforms, which will include Door access systems, Surveillance camera systems, Report Management Systems, and Service request systems.

Salary Description

$20.57 - $23.68 an hour
