Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists the 24-hour Campus Safety team, including first, second, and third shifts, as well as weekend shifts upon request.
- Provides customer service to Students, Faculty, and Staff within the Campus Safety Office or satellite location.
- Aids in the creation of new ID Badges and updating electronic access within the access control platform.
- Manages lost and found property, including inventorying and disposal.
- Locks and unlocks selected doors on a daily basis according to departmental procedures.
- Patrols the premises on a non-scheduled basis.
- Checks premises for fire and safety hazards on a daily basis and reports any hazards found to the Security Supervisor immediately.
- Investigates matters pertaining to alleged losses, thefts, and wrongful acts of individuals affecting security, and completes incident reports accurately as needed.
- Answers questions from strangers and ensures they have a legitimate reason for their presence.
- Responds to emergency calls within a timely manner.
- Maintains the Reports Management System (RMS) and distributes safety and security-related incident reports.
- Maintains registration files of employee and student vehicles as needed.
- Safeguards parking regulations by ensuring compliance with policies on an ongoing basis.
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous security or related experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Works independently with limited supervision.
- Interacts effectively with various segments of the public, including, but not limited to, faculty, employees, students, patients, and visitors.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Fulfills telephone number or other means for immediate contact.
- Uses the two-way radio.
- Displays strong organizational and time management skills.
- Shows ability to be creative and take individual initiative and responsibility.
- Knowledge and understanding of dispatching procedures are highly desirable.
- Exhibits strong attention to detail, able to multitask, and understands the importance of timely follow-through.
- Experience working with different Software platforms, which will include Door access systems, Surveillance camera systems, Report Management Systems, and Service request systems.
Pay
The hourly range for this position is $18.70 - $21.52 based on experience.
