Athletics Public Address Announcer
About the role
The Athletics Public Address Announcer position is located in Providence, Rhode Island, and is part of the Ivy League's intercollegiate athletics program. The position involves providing real-time updates and commercial reads during athletic contests.
Responsibilities
- Announce pertinent information during athletic contests.
- Provide commercial “reads” throughout the game or event.
- Ensure clear and accurate annunciation and projection to a large crowd.
- Adhere to specific game protocol as per Ivy League and NCAA rules.
- Work alongside assigned game officials, Athletic Communications staff, Event Management staff, and Marketing and Promotions staff.
- React to events on the field/court/athletic venue to accurately announce information.
- Show an excellent speaking voice and ability to project and annunciate.
- Read announcements in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of sports rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to learn specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules.
- Excellent speaking voice and ability to project and annunciate.
- Ability to observe and react to events on the field/court/athletic venue.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn specific game protocol as it pertains to Ivy League and NCAA rules.
- Exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations.
- Annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintenance of current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
Skills
- Clear communication skills.
- Ability to project and annunciate effectively.
- Knowledge of Ivy League and NCAA rules and regulations.
