About Jackson High School

Jackson High School, a Class A member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association, offers 28 varsity and sub-varsity sports and is seeking a dedicated Athletic Trainer to serve as one of two athletic trainers within Jackson Public Schools.

The Athletic Trainer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive health care program for student-athletes and other patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to athlete’s safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator who can serve as a key liaison between the Jackson High School athletic department and Henry Ford Health, ensuring seamless coordination of care, injury management, and health education.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide athletic training services to our athletes at Jackson High School.
  • Be the liaison between Henry Ford Health and Jackson High School to help coordinate various appointments within the health system.
  • Collaborate with assigned Henry Ford Health team physician and various healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care.
  • Play a hands-on role in helping athletes reach their peak performance by delivering individualized care for both injuries and overall wellness.
  • Educate on best practices for maintaining health and promote long-term wellness.
  • Expand your skills by offering services beyond the school, including assisting in physician clinics, community outreach, and engagement events.

What We’re Looking For

  • Board of Certification (ATC) and Michigan state licensure (or eligibility to obtain before hire).
  • A post-professional master’s degree in athletic training or related field is preferred, along with two years of experience (can be combination of education and experience).
  • Strong ability to work independently while thriving in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge and adherence to NCAA, NJCAA, and MHSAA policies, with a commitment to supporting community outreach programs.

Additional Skills or Certifications

  • Additional certifications like CSCS, PES, FMS, CKTP, EMT are highly valued.
