About the role
Provide athletic training outreach services for secondary schools and universities in the area.
Responsibilities
- Care for injuries using therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation techniques.
- Evaluate readiness to return to daily activities, and coordinate clearances when necessary.
- Provide athletic training outreach and medical care to assigned location.
- Responsible for athletic training special event coverage when scheduled.
- Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries.
- Maintain an effective and efficient athletic training room.
- Maintain communication with parents on the care and treatment of their student-athlete.
- File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.
- Maintain a daily treatment log.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
- Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
- This position may require travel to and from satellite clinics as assigned.
Requirements
- Degree in athletic training/sports medicine from CAATE approved institution (required).
- Master’s Degree in related field (preferred).
- NATA certification in good standing (required).
- Current state license in Athletic Training (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross (required).
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (if travel is assigned; MVR will be screened annually).
Experience
- No previous experience required.
- 2 years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer (preferred).
