About the role
The Athletic Trainer/Orthopedic Technician role is within the Field Services Team at Enovis Corporation. This position plays a crucial role in driving the medical technology industry forward through transforming patient care and creating better patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for proper measuring and application, education on appropriate use/care, and providing accurate information to patients and Health Care practitioners (HCPs) on expected outcomes resulting from the use of orthopedic soft goods, functional bracing, bone growth stimulation, and all other Enovis products as prescribed by physicians/HCPs at the orthopedic practice.
- Applies cast to patients as specified by the provider.
- Aid orthopaedic surgeons in the Cast Room during patient care procedures, including fracture reduction, hardware removal, dressing changes, and other orthopaedic procedures.
- Develops and applies knowledge of the use of Casts/Splints, Braces, Traction, Orthotics, Continous Passive Motion Machines, and Ambulation devices.
- Demonstrate ability to measure and fit them to patients as directed.
- Performs suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and wound care.
- Covers patient care for follow-up brace fitting appointments, as necessary.
- Performs casting and evaluations in coordination with orthopedic providers, maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and documentation accuracy.
- Provides routine customer service to patients, physicians, physician assistants, and other clinical staff following established policies and procedures.
- Verifies patient benefits using automation tools, including pre-authorization and/or upfront collection of patient responsibility.
- Serves as a liaison between the customer, Enovis, and the Sales Team.
- Achieve and maintain certification as a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist by the American Society of Orthopaedic Professionals (ASOP) or the National Association of Orthopaedic Technicians (NAOT) according to department/organizational standards.
- Adheres to all Enovis Compliance and Ethics Programs, OIG, government healthcare regulations, regulatory policies and procedures set forth by clinic/hospital, and HIPAA in accordance with government agency requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, clinic, or physician’s office, or as an independent contractor working directly in the care of the orthopedic patient, or related experience required.
- Demonstrated patient care experience.
- Experience dealing with multiple physicians in a high-volume clinic a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
- Must satisfy third-party credentialing/screening requirements to gain access to hospital accounts.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and current automobile insurance.
Qualifications
- Holds and maintains applicable professional credentials, such as active Athletic Training licensure, Board of Certification (BOC), National Board for Certification in Orthopaedic Technologists (NBCOT OTC), American Board for Certification (ABC) Certified Fitter-orthotics (CFo), Physical Therapy Certification (PTA), or related.
