About the role
Assists with the management of all aspects of the sports medicine program and athletic training room operations.
Responsibilities
- Assists with the prevention, assessment, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to student-athletes in all sports programs. (70%)
- Assists with arrangements for injury and illness treatment by team physicians or other physicians as necessary. (10%)
- Assists with the maintenance of complete, accurate and detailed medical records for all student athlete injuries. (5%)
- Assists in coordinating the master schedule of athletic training room staff and coverage. (5%)
- Assists in directing or directs sport camps as requested or required. (5%)
- Performs other duties as requested or required, whether or not specifically mentioned in this job description. (5%)
- Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations.
- Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary.
- Reports potential rules violations immediately.
- Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.
- Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree and NATABOC Certification
- Louisiana-LSBME licensure at date of hire
- Current CPR/First Aid/Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Certification

Preferred Qualifications
- Two years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer (NATABOC)
- Previous Athletic Training Experience in Division I Intercollegiate Athletics
