Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

Provides direct patient care and education for fitting, measuring, and dispensing of custom fabricated, prefabricated, and off-the-shelf orthotic devices and other durable medical equipment and supplies.

Essential Functions

• Provides fitting, measuring, and dispensing of custom fabricated, prefabricated, and off-the-shelf orthotic devices and soft goods including upper and lower body, spine, and ambulatory aids.
• Provides patient/caregiver education for usage, maintenance, and care of the orthoses.
• Timely collection of physician prescriptions, patient demographics, insurance information, and medical records for billing purposes.
• Aids in scheduling patient appointments for initial fittings and follow-up visits in the Equipped for Life office.
• Aids in stocking and maintenance of appropriate inventories of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and orthoses.
• Acts as liaison between clinical staff and billing staff to ensure proper documentation for insurance to determine medical necessity.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field of study preferred.
• Experience: No experience required. One (1) year of DME/bracing and/or Athletic Training experience preferred.
• Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
• Certifications, Registrations, Licenses: NATABOC Athletic Trainer Certification, SC Athletic Trainer License/Certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina.), CPR Certification.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database and data entry.
• Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier).
• Mental skills.
