Athletic Trainer
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Athletic Training and under the direction of the Director of Medical Services, the Athletic Trainer provides individual and team-based athletic training services to the school community, in coordination with Deerfield’s allied health team and athletics program.
It is possible, though not guaranteed, that we will be able to provide on-campus housing for the appropriate candidate.
The Candidate Will Provide athletic training services to our school community including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions, as necessary.
Provide emergency care and consult with the medical director as clinically warranted.
Keep current records of injuries, treatments and rehabilitation for proper documentation.
Aid with the planning and implementation of a comprehensive athletic injury prevention program to limit both acute and chronic athletic injuries.
Assist in organizing and running a weekly sports medicine clinic to enable students weekly access to orthopedic sports medicine specialists.
Aid with the planning and implementation of a comprehensive athletic injury prevention program to limit both acute and chronic athletic injuries.
Administrative responsibilities include:
- Ordering and inventory control of athletic supplies to ensure proper stocking of necessary items.
- Maintaining the athletic training room to ensure orderly appearance, smooth operation of the facility and adherence to standard health care codes.
- Coinciding and providing general outreach and education for students, employees and departments regarding healthy eating and nutrition.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Masters’ Degree Science & Athletic Training
- 3-5 years of experience working as a certified athletic trainer
- Registered and certified Athletic Trainer with licensure in Massachusetts, including NATACertified and current in BLS
- Experience working with adolescent population
- Ability to manage, and sensitivity to, highly confidential information
- Ability to effectively work, communicate and contribute on a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent written, communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated technical expertise including Microsoft Office suite, and a capacity for rapid acquisition of skills in the use of the Electronic Health Record system in use at the Health Center
- Interest in and demonstrated skill working with adolescents
- Demonstrated multicultural competency and commitment to inclusivity
- Detail-oriented
- A sense of humor
Working Conditions
- Close visual acuity to view a computer terminal
- Frequently outside subject to heat and cold
- Occasionally exposed to bodily fluids
- Ability to stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, feel and hear
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally push/pull up to 200 lbs.
Pay
Salary Range $25,000 - $40,000 Dependent upon experience and finalized duties
