Responsibilities
- Recognize, evaluate, treat and rehabilitate participating athletes who have suffered a sports injury or illness.
- Provide injury prevention education to those athletes.
- Coverage of athletic team events and additional special events as assigned.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the assigned school, the parent/athlete, and appropriate healthcare providers.
- Make return to play decisions as appropriate.
- Document patient/athlete interactions on appropriate forms, including follow-up documentation.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and safe athletic training room.
- Order and maintain supplies/equipment inventory.
- Assist with budgeting related to assigned school.
- Referral and scheduling of athletes to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Coordinate with school and district personnel on emergency action plans and sports medicine policies.
- Ensure the completion and dissemination of school insurance claim forms.
- Be available by phone to assigned school when not on campus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- One year of experience in a related field.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions regarding athlete health and safety.
- Knowledge of emergency action plans and sports medicine policies.
