Athletic School Bus Driver

About the role

The Framingham Public Schools Department of Transportation seeks an Athletic School Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for students to and from school, as well as to and from athletic events. This position adheres to the district's mission of creating a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure passenger safety during transit.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report routine maintenance or repairs.
• Monitor and report fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Inspect the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip.
• Aid with loading and unloading the bus as required.
• Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus.
• Report inappropriate student behavior to the Director of Transportation.
• Maintain a clean vehicle.
• Support students.

Requirements

• CDL Class B and Passenger Certificate (preferred).
• Clean driving record.
• Outstanding work habits.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Ability to fulfill annual school bus license renewal requirements.
• Pass CORI information and fingerprinting background check.

Qualifications

• Attention to traffic and weather conditions.
• Knowledge of the planned route and schedule.
• Physical stamina to move about and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
• Ability to see and hear continuously to ensure student safety.
• Ability to assist students with physical difficulties.

Benefits

Reimbursed for the cost of renewal of the Massachusetts School Bus Certificate.

Pay

$36.23 per hour.

Schedule

Hours are generally in the afternoon and fluctuate by athletic season.
