Athletic Health Care Trainer - Maui High
About the role
The Athletic Health Care Trainer, SR-22, is responsible for developing and implementing standard operating procedures for the school's athletic health care program and training facility. They also conduct pre-participation evaluations, work with coaches to develop training programs, and monitor athletic activities for safety.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures for the school's athletic health care program and training facility in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Conducts pre-participation evaluations to screen for injury/illness risk factors associated with participation in competitive athletics.
- Works with coaches to develop and implement effective training and conditioning programs for student athletes.
- Advises the athletic director and/or coaches on the appropriate selection and proper fitting of protective equipment.
- Makes initial evaluations following acute injuries and develops and supervises appropriate rehabilitation programs.
- Monitors athletic activities and events for potential safety hazards and/or conditions, and takes necessary actions to ensure student safety.
- Serves as a resource person and provides technical assistance to coaches, teachers, and other personnel regarding the health care of students and student athletes.
- Organizes and implements in-service educational programs for coaches and other school personnel.
- Counsels and advises coaches, student athletes, and parents on matters regarding rehabilitation and treatment of specific injuries.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current certification as an athletic trainer from the NATABOC.
- Current certification in ECC from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council.
- Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Hawaii.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet all the requirements for the position they are seeking as of the date of the application, unless otherwise specified. Unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience may not be gained concurrently. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks. Part-time experience is pro-rated.

Salary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and includes shortage and school year differentials, if applicable.
Pay
Payday: The first paycheck is typically within the first 3 pay periods of the start date. Paydays are on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
Schedule
Full-time employment is expected.
