Athletic Health Care Trainer - Molokai High

About the role

The Athletic Health Care Trainer position is responsible for developing and implementing standard operating procedures for the school's athletic health care program and training facility. Duties include conducting pre-participation evaluations, working with coaches to develop training programs, advising on protective equipment, monitoring athletic activities, providing first aid, and supervising training activities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements standard operating procedures for the school's athletic health care program and training facility in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Covers practice and game situations, uses therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation protocols, and manages injury procedures.
• Conducts pre-participation evaluations to screen for injury/illness risk factors.
• Works with coaches to develop and implement effective training and conditioning programs for student athletes.
• Advises the athletic director or coaches on the appropriate selection and fitting of protective equipment.
• Makes observations and decisions on the management of acute injuries, and provides appropriate first aid and emergency cardiac care.
• Designs, constructs, and fits orthotic devices, and supervises the operation of therapeutic devices and equipment.
• Monitors athlete’s appropriate reintegration into program activities and serves as a resource person.
• Serves as a technical advisor to coaches, teachers, and other personnel regarding the health care of students and student athletes.

Requirements

• Current certification as an athletic trainer from the NATABOC.
• Current certification in ECC from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council.
• Valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Hawaii.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an athletic trainer.
• Experience in pre-participation evaluations and injury prevention.
• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation protocols.
• Ability to make decisions on the management of acute injuries.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Skills

• Proficient in first aid and emergency cardiac care.
• Skilled in the use of therapeutic modalities and orthotic devices.
• Excellent interpersonal and advisory skills.

Benefits

Salary: $5,527.00 - $6,728.00 per month. Benefits include holidays, vacation, sick leave, health insurance, group life insurance, premium conversion plan, flexible spending accounts, retirement plan, tax shelter annuity, deferred compensation, temporary disability insurance, and social security contributions.

Pay

Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month. New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date.

Schedule

Full-time position. Hours and schedule are determined by the hiring department.
