About the role

The Athletic Communications office serves as the most public element of the University’s Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) and supports 33 varsity sports programs. It aims to positively promote the University’s nearly 1,000 student-athletes and more than 200 coaches, staff, and athletic administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary media contact for a number of our varsity sports.
    • Coordinate all media interactions with the programs’ athletes and coaches.
    • Manage game-day operations related to statistical and media activities for home events.
    • Travel as appropriate for assigned sports.
  • Manage elements of social media output for their assigned sport teams, focusing on creative storytelling opportunities for Penn Athletics and team-related accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
  • Support a responsive web site (supported by SideArm) and updated mobile platforms.
  • Provide support to inter-office departmental needs, including but not limited to the Penn Sports Network/Ivy League on ESPN, marketing, development, Penn Quakers Sports Properties (JMI), facilities/operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Must possess good written, interpersonal, and computer skills and the ability to learn stat programs.
  • Time management skills are essential as the candidate will be asked to multi-task on a daily basis.
  • Compliance with all Ivy League/NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as well as travel with teams as required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Pay Range

$7.25 - $15.00 hourly rate. Salary offers are made based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job’s level.
