The Planet Group is seeking an Athlete Protection Program Coordinator to join their well-known retail brand on a 12-month contract. The role is 40 hours per week, hybrid in Beaverton, OR, with remote Fridays. Reporting to the Director of the Athlete Protection Program, this position is part of the Research Operations team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in scientific, biomedical, health, or regulatory field with 6 years of direct experience or a master's degree with 4 years of direct experience
- Experience working with or a member of IRBs and/or Human research protection programs
- Well organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations
- Comfortable speaking with a wide range of technical experts
- Can handle ambiguity and drives to seek clarity
- Expertise in research ethics and knowledge of federal regulations regarding human subjects, including HHS and FDA
- Certified IRB Professional preferred
- Experience with sport science research (biomechanics, perception, physiology, and behavior) preferred
- Database use and management (Airtable, Excel, etc) is a huge plus
Description
Support the Institutional Review Board (IRB) administrative processes
Provide pre-review of research applications as related to ethical and regulatory requirements
Provide the first line of response to investigator questions or concerns
Provide consultation and education to investigators related to human subjects research compliance and participating in outreach activities or other APP functions as needed
Help maintain a robust program of an ethical innovation and research program in Innovation
Work across disciplines in the organization to understand the work of each team and the protections that the client should enable for its Athletes
Make recommendations to build upon existing programs in a way that protects Athletes and enables a rapid pace of innovation and discovery
Will delve into the complex world of ethics and innovation to identify innovative solutions
Build authentic relationships and trust across teams and departments
Occasionally lead smaller focused fact-finding missions and produce actionable recommendations that moves us closer to our goals
Work independently or in a team setting
Draw upon your experience to bring fresh perspectives and must be able to identify multiple pathways to success
Ability to think in terms of risk related to athletes and the client
Influence others with well-researched logical arguments and make decisions guided by policies in non-standard situations
Lead twice-yearly trainings and records management
