About the Role
Michigan State University’s Department of History invites applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term Assistant Professors to teach one or more undergraduate or graduate-level courses per semester. These positions may be part-time or full-time and vary by semester based on departmental needs. Positions may begin as early as January 1, 2027, with courses offered during the regular academic year when available. Note that the department may not have openings in some semesters.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate or graduate-level courses in one or more of the following fields:
- United States History
- Latin American History
- Asian History
- European History
- African History
Requirements
- A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in History (with a focus on U.S., Latin America, Asia, Europe, or Africa) required by the date of hire.
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and/or significant work experience in one of the specified fields.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching undergraduate courses of varying enrollment sizes.
- Experience supervising or working with teaching assistants (desired).
