About the role
The Assistant Nurse Manager provides supervision and clinical expertise to staff in his/her assigned area. They assist the Nurse Manager in various tasks including hiring and firing of nursing personnel, conducting employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Assists the Nurse Manager in devising and managing the departmental budget(s).
- Facilitates positive customer service and patient-centered care on the nursing unit.
Requirements
- Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups
- Required Education: Associate's Degree, Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- New hires effective June 14, 2017, must have a BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
- Preferred Education: BSN or BS in related health care field.
- Necessary Skills: Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards & Nursing Standards, Demonstrate clinical skills in nursing practice, Good customer service skills, Basic computer literacy required, Above average oral and written communication abilities, Effective problem-solving decision making skills.
Qualifications
- Licensure/Certifications: Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida, BLS from the American Heart Association is required for all areas, ACLS from the American Heart Association is required at hire or transfer for certain departments, ACLS within 6 months of hire or transfer for other departments, PALS within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments, NRP within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments, STABLE within 6 months of hire or transfer for certain departments.
- Experience: 3-5 years - Practicing RN in acute care.
