About the role
Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is a 1,300 acre, AAA Four Diamond resort and spa recognized as a Top Resort in the Midwest by Conde Nast Traveler. This award-winning, all-seasons destination features over 746 guest accommodations, the WELL Spa & Salon, 36 holes of championship golf on two iconic courses: The Brute and The Highlands, fitness facilities, a ski hill and terrain park, and 9 unique food and beverage outlets.
Responsibilities
- Assist the course superintendent in managing turf for the Brute or Highlands Golf Course.
- Oversee daily course maintenance and inspections, including handling superintendent duties when needed.
- Communicate course conditions to the superintendent, golf staff, and guests.
- Schedule and assign daily tasks while managing and training seasonal maintenance staff.
- Aid in chemical and fertilizer programs, irrigation setup, scheduling, and repairs.
- Collaborate with mechanics on equipment needs and maintenance issues.
- Support capital improvement projects and ensure campus snow removal operations.
- Serve as a hands-on working manager, contributing directly to course upkeep and team operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong passion for golf course maintenance with a turf management background; education in turf management is a plus.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) and ability to obtain Wisconsin pesticide certification within one year.
- Experience managing or supervising a crew of 10+ team members.
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions.
- Flexible schedule with availability for overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to foster camaraderie, act ethically, and build strong relationships with team members, managers, and vendors.
- Committed to maintaining professionalism and efficiency in all tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in golf course maintenance or related field.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
