Asst/Assoc/Professor - Psychiatry, Addiction

About the role

The TTUHSC Department of Psychiatry seeks candidates for a position as an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in Addiction Psychiatry. The rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to distinguish between primary mental health conditions and symptoms caused directly by substance use.
• Prescribe and monitor specialized medications to reduce cravings, manage withdrawal symptoms, and block the effects of addictive substances.
• Conduct counseling and behavioral therapies to help patients develop coping skills and prevent relapse.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to create holistic, individualized treatment plans.
• Formulate sustainable, culturally congruent interventions.
• Provide supervision, mentoring and teaching to residents and students.

Requirements

• MD/DO or equivalent.
• Completion of the USMLE Step 3.
• Completion of, or in the process of completing, a residency in psychiatry.
• Completion of, or in the process of completing, a fellowship in addiction psychiatry OR Experience in Addiction Psychiatry.
• ABMS Board Eligibility, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible, in Psychiatry.

Qualifications

• Completion of, or in the process of completing, a fellowship in addiction psychiatry OR Experience in Addiction Psychiatry.
