Asst/Assoc/Professor - Inpatient/Hospitalist - Psychiatry
About the Role
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo Department of Psychiatry is an innovative community-based teaching program. The department treats patients from children to geriatric with varying psychiatric diagnoses and partners with community facilities to provide services. This role offers faculty diverse clinical experiences, exposure to multiple psychiatric diagnoses, innovative technologies for serving rural patients with chronic mental illness, and a high degree of patient interactions.
Rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Coverage of inpatient service with a 7on/7off schedule.
- Conduct psychiatric examinations, diagnose, and treat mental conditions.
- Prescribe treatment courses.
- Participate in the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans.
- Train and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.
Requirements
- MD, DO, or MBBS Degree.
- Completion of, or in the process of completing, a Psychiatry Residency.
- Board Eligible, in the process of completing training to become board eligible, or Board Certified in Psychiatry.
- Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
This position does not work in a research laboratory.

Schedule
7 days on, 7 days off (7on/7off) schedule.
Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
