About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Finance team. This role supports day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable processing, credit card reconciliations, purchase order tracking, and month-end reporting activities. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting critical deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices, verify statements, research discrepancies, and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
- Manage accounts payable transactions and ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.
- Track, audit, and reconcile company credit card transactions and allocate expenses to appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Receive and process purchase orders while maintaining associated receiving and shipping documentation.
- Assist with month-end close activities and support the preparation of financial reports.
- Meet established reporting deadlines and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Support payroll distribution and related accounting workflows.
- Assist with document management, record retention, and audit preparation.
- Provide backup support to other office and administrative team members as needed.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal departments to resolve accounting and payment issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting, accounts payable, finance, or related experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Access.
- Experience with ERP systems; JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, invoice processing, and financial reconciliations.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
