The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the Executive Vice President and Provost and has responsibilities including, but not limited to, addressing student concerns and student academic conduct; overseeing special withdrawals (administrative, medical, study abroad, and voids), appeals to academic suspension, and change of grade requests; and managing course fees; and supporting curriculum review and program development. In addition, the position oversees the management of the EO/EA process, serves as a liaison with the Council of Academic Leaders regarding Academic Affairs policies and procedures, and collaborates with the Executive Vice Provost on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in an academic administrative role(s)
- Possession of an advanced academic rank from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in college or division-level academic administration, particularly in areas such as administering academic policies, appeals of academic policies decisions, as well as extensive knowledge with Banner and other University systems
