Associate Veterinarian - Small Animal

Animal Clinic of Monett (Monett, MO) is looking for an experienced small animal veterinarian ready to make an immediate impact — with a caseload strong enough to support commission and a support team that punches well above what you’d expect in a rural setting. Comfort with large animal cases is a plus.

About Us

The Animal Clinic of Monett has been in the community since 1989, founded by Drs. Ted and Carol Dahlstrom. The clinic is known for its deep ties to Southwest Missouri’s cattle community and devotion to clients. The team includes:

• Dr. John Harper (Missouri ‘88), joined in 1994 — a versatile mixed animal practitioner skilled in small animal orthopedic surgery and equine/cattle care.
• Dr. John Tyra, joined in 2010 — specializes in beef and dairy production medicine and bovine reproduction, now stepping into practice leadership.
• Dr. Rachael Kluppel, new graduate (Mississippi State University, Class of 2026), bringing fresh energy to the team.

One to two additional new-grad associates are expected to join in spring 2027. ACM is partnering with Heritage Vet Partners to support leadership, culture, and growth. The clinic’s technicians and administrative team are highly experienced, allowing doctors to focus on medicine.

About the Role

• General/elective soft tissue surgery experience (key for top-of-range compensation).
• Comfort managing a busy, established small animal caseload independently.
• Openness to large animal cases (a plus, though not required).
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments.
• Interest in mentoring newer team members as the practice grows.

Southwest Missouri offers outdoor recreation, including Table Rock Lake, Beaver Lake, and Branson. Monett (population 10,000) is within an hour’s drive of Joplin (50,000) and Springfield (125,000), providing access to urban amenities while maintaining small-town charm. Pay

• Full-Time Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000, plus commission potential based on caseload.
• Soft tissue surgical caseload supports upper end of range for qualified candidates.
