Associate Teacher - Project
About the role
The Contra Costa County Community Services Bureau seeks qualified classroom staff to work with young children in the Head Start and Child Development Programs. These positions are ideal for individuals interested in early childhood education and development.
Responsibilities
- Assists in assessing the needs of children enrolled in the program
- Organizes the children's learning environment
- Plans and implements the developmental program
- Works with parents to build a respectful relationship
- Makes verbal and written reports of suspected child abuse
- Reports issues of concern to the Teacher-Project or Site Supervisor-Project
- Performs other tasks as required for efficient instruction
Requirements
- Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator License
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or high school proficiency certificate and 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development, including core courses
- Prefer an Associate of Art (A.A.) degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field
- Child Development Associate Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing or a Contra Costa County Associate Teacher Temporary County Certificate (CCC TCC)
Qualifications
As required by law, all appointees must successfully pass a physical examination and fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances. Applicants must submit official or unofficial transcripts and verification of their Child Development Associate Teacher Permit with the application.
